Why do my ZONE3 goggles fog up?Updated 2 hours ago

Fogging is a common issue with swimming goggles and doesn't necessarily mean there's a fault with the product. It occurs when moisture in the air condenses on the inside of the lenses, creating a misty layer that can make it difficult to see clearly while swimming.

Temperature differences between your face, the water and the surrounding air can contribute to condensation. For example, if your body is warm but the water is cold, your goggles may be more likely to fog up. You may also notice this happening during high-intensity pool sessions, when your body temperature rises, although fogging can occur in both pool and open-water swimming.

Do ZONE3 goggles have an anti-fog coating?

Yes! All ZONE3 swimming goggles feature an anti-fog coating on the inside of the lenses. This treatment helps reduce condensation and maintain clear vision while swimming. However, the coating isn't a guarantee against fogging, and its effectiveness can be affected by how the goggles are handled and maintained.

How can I prevent my goggles from fogging up?

There are several steps you can take to help minimise fogging and get the best performance from your goggles:

Keep the inside of your lenses dry before swimming: We recommend starting your swim with dry goggles inside. Although it can be tempting to rinse your goggles before getting into the water, introducing moisture to the inside of the lenses may increase the likelihood of fogging in certain conditions.

Avoid touching or rubbing the inside of the lenses: The anti-fog coating is delicate and can be damaged by contact with your fingers, towels or other materials. Avoid wiping or rubbing the inside of your goggles, as this can reduce the effectiveness of the coating.

Rinse gently after swimming: After your swim, rinse your goggles with clean, fresh water to remove chlorine, salt and other residues. Avoid rubbing the inside of the lenses during cleaning.

Allow your goggles to air dry: Leave your goggles to dry naturally, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Once dry, store them somewhere clean and safe to help protect the lenses from scratches and damage.

What if my goggles still fog up?

If your goggles continue to fog up despite following these care recommendations, the anti-fog coating may have deteriorated through use or contact with the inside of the lenses. Anti-fog coatings naturally become less effective over time, particularly if the lenses are rubbed or cleaned incorrectly.
